As guests arrive at your destination wedding location, they’re going be tired from travelling, hungry, thirsty and looking for a pick-me-up. So what better way to greet your visitors and get them in the mood for your nuptials than with a welcome get-together?

One of the best things about hosting a wedding abroad is that you get to spend an extended amount of quality time with your nearest and dearest. Make every moment count and arrange daytime activities, make reservations for tasty evening meals and pick out the best bars for relaxing together over cocktails – giving everyone the chance to properly unwind and get to know each other before the big day.

Rachel and Aaron are the beyond beautiful couple whose magical Montego Bay ‘Real Wedding‘ we’ll be sharing with you tomorrow. Here’s a snapshot of their pre-wedding fun and frolics to give you a little taster of the chic celebration that’s to come tomorrow, along with some inspiration and ideas for planning a welcome party at your own destination ‘I do’.

Rachel says:

“Every day was planned with an event. A chartered sailboat served as our welcome party, where we snorkelled in a nearby lagoon and toured the bay until sunset.”

“The following day, Aaron proudly organised beach games on the shore, which involved tossing mangos into rings and relay races on paddle boats. Later that night, we kicked off our shoes and dined directly on the beach in the sand for our rehearsal dinner.”

“We enjoyed a Jamaican barbeque feast and celebrated with folklore dancers, fire breathing artists and the now-infamous limbo. News traveled quickly, and I was greeted as ‘Limbo Queen’ from there on out.”
