We are pretty darn lucky here at You Mean The World To Me…some incredible destination wedding photographers kindly take time out of their busy schedules to share the beautiful weddings that they’ve photographed across the globe, in order to bring you – the lovely readers – all kinds of wedding pretty in lust-worthy locations to inspire your own wedding day and your jet-set loving hearts.
These talented wedding togs also share our love for the wanderlust of course and whether it’s for work or for pleasure they get to visit some of the dreamiest destinations going. So, that’s where the new Travel Diaries series on the blog comes in; your favourite wedding photographers have the opportunity to invite us into their personal holidays and take a peek at their world-wide adventures. With beautiful imagery (obviously!) they also discuss their top tips and any must-see attractions for when visiting their latest vacation locale.
Having already visited The Unspoilt Algarve, we’ve also enjoyed Exploring Scenic Santorini and been introduced to A Personal Love of Provence. This month Gert Huygaerts helps us to discover The Amazing Amalfi Coast in Italy.
This picture-perfect region is top of many people’s must-visit list (mine included!). Literally bursting with romance it’s no wonder that it is hugely popular for destination weddings and honeymoons. Prepare to fall in love with some of the most idyllic spots that Italy has to offer…
“In April last year I was lucky to be able to make a trip along the amazing coast of Amalfi, Italy. This region filled with lemon orchards, small picturesque and romantic villages and utterly kind Italian people made a unique impression on me. As I already loved Italy for its food, wine and beautiful culture, this trip only strengthened the love!”
“The first stop was in Erchie, one of the most sympathetic villages I ever stayed in. It has only about 100 inhabitants and is situated in a beautiful bay of the Tyrhennian Sea. In Erchie I met the oldest octopus-fisherman of the whole region. With the age of 83 he still goes out fishing every day with his small rowing boat. Coming back from the sea, he was more than proud to show his catch of the day… truly heartwarming to see how the man loved his passion for the sea!”
“After staying in Erchie at the Lullaby of Travellers for a night, I moved on to Amalfi and Ravello. These two villages are far more touristic and crowded than at the first stop, but certainly worth seeing. They still carry the true Italian authenticity of the region and you can feel, breathe, smell and taste the Italian life everywhere.”
“In Ravello, I stayed at the amazing Belmond Hotel Caruso, one of the best and most beautiful hotels in Europe. If you’re in the Amalfi area, this is certainly a must-stay hotel! The location, the highly professional staff, the adorable food and the unique infinity pool make this hotel an experience on its own!”
“Being a wedding photographer in the Amalfi region, it would be a shame not to visit Positano… definitely one of the most picturesque and romantic villages of the whole Amalfi coast. Positano was already the location for several of the world’s best wedding photographers. The narrow cobbled streets, the bright coloured houses and the amazing views make this place truly unique.”
“Heading on in the spirit of the wedding photographer, it would be a shame when visiting the Amalfi Coast to not visit the island of Capri. Being described as one of the most romantic islands, Capri has been the place for many celebrities to get married. It has everything: the stunning views, beautiful hotels and gorgeous gardens to have the perfect celebrations…”
“Amalfi… you made me love Italy even more than I already did. I’ll be back soon, promise!”
With thanks to Gert for sharing his visit to the amazing Amalfi Coast in Italy.
