Grace described her wedding as simple and sparkling and with a venue choice like the Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay, Bali you wouldn’t expect anything less than the stylish, shimmering, champagne sipping soiree that Grace and Matthew enjoyed.

The luxurious oceanfront location provided a romantic and authentic Balinese backdrop to the couple’s elegant ceremony. Grace added a delicious dose of DIY details to really make this dreamy destination day their own.

Grace says:

“Matt and I met four years ago when he was in Singapore for a weekend to see his best friend who later became his Best Man. They went out for a drink that night and so did my friends and I. The weekend after that, Matt came back to Singapore for our first official date. He came to Singapore from Australia in 2007 and was immediately stationed to a project in Thailand. At that time I was already working in Singapore for over a year.”

“On our 3rd year anniversary we went to the beautiful Island Boracay in my home country Philippines. He proposed to me in a very romantic private dinner in one of Shangri-La’s pavilions, overlooking the beach. The walkway to the private pavilion was full of red roses and candles alongside. He proposed to me before we had our dessert (in case I got tired and called it a night!). It was a perfect moment and was everything I could have dreamt of.”

“We decided to have our wedding in Bali, Indonesia where both our families from Australia and Philippines can easily travel to and our friends that are mostly from Singapore. We had 62 guests and the rindik instrument was played upon guest arrival to set the mood.  With the help of our very nice wedding coordinator in Four Seasons Jimbaran, my dream elegant sunset outdoor wedding came to life. The ceremony was in the Jimbaran garden overlooking the Jimbaran beach. The colour combination was simple and sparkling.”

A wedding in Bali can be a magical holiday for both you and your guests and it’s the perfect place for a short mini-moon or your honeymoon after your big day.

There is so much to see and do in Bali – it is the perfect place for having some downtime with your nearest and dearest before and after your wedding day. You can enjoy a cycle or hike across the rice fields in the Ubud area, or relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets seen from Kuta, shop in fashionable Seminyak, or go surfing in Uluwatu, watch the famous Kecak dance or dance in one of Bali’s hip and happening clubs or try out tasty, traditional Balinese cuisine and enjoy fine dining. Your guests coming to your wedding will appreciate the many interesting adventures they can enjoy around your wedding day celebrations.

Tip!

With rice fields, beaches and more, Bali makes an excellent place to have your engagement photo session. If you have your session with PhotoFactory a few days before your wedding in Bali, you will have your engagement album ready to show off on your wedding day!

Wedding planners

Many good wedding planners have been around for decades in Bali and some great newcomers have recently joined the scene too. Top quality, international-standard vendors such as professional photographers, decorators, talented musicians and dancers are all set to deliver you with your dream wedding. You will have no problems communicating with your Bali wedding vendors in English either, giving you full confidence before your big day.

Wedding ceremonies

Blessing ceremony / commitment wedding

This ceremony is suitable for couples that wish to celebrate their wedding with a blessing in Bali, or for couples who don’t want to be legally banded in a marriage but wish to live in love and commitment. Everything is similar to a religious ceremony but it’s led by a celebrant and the certificate does not legally bind you in marriage. For this kind of ceremony you do not need to complete any legal paperwork and no authorities are involved.

Balinese blessing ceremony

Made famous back in the 90s when Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall tied the knot in Bali, the exotic Balinese blessing ceremony excites couples wanting to have an authentic Balinese cultural experience for their wedding. This is a blessing ceremony and not a legally binding wedding ceremony. It is only possible for couples who are genuinely of the Balinese Hindu faith to be legally married in the Balinese Hindu style. Again, you would not need to complete any legal paperwork and no authorities are involved.

Legal wedding ceremonies

All couples that want to legally marry in Bali (which is a part of Indonesia and is subject to Indonesian laws) must declare a religion. The Civil Registry Office can record marriages of Islam, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian-Protestant and Christian-Catholic faiths. Marriage partners must have the same religion otherwise one partner must make a written declaration of change of religion.

In Bali, the legal civil ceremony takes place after the religious ceremony. You will have an English speaking ceremony leader (priest or government official etc).

Whatever ceremony you choose, your wedding planner or hotel wedding coordinator will be able to help you through the preparation and throughout the wedding.

Shannon says:

“Dane booked a few nights at Mick’s Place last year for my 30th, we weren’t engaged yet but knew we always wanted to get married in Bali – as soon as we arrived we both said “this is it!” The view was breathtaking, it was so relaxing and one of Dane’s favorite waves was right out the front, it was perfect. We asked for a wedding package to be emailed through, Dane popped the question four weeks later and we booked it straight away!”

Real bride review:

“As soon as we looked at Bali PhotoFactory’s digital portfolio on their website, we were head over heels in love with the natural way their photography team had captured other destination weddings.”

“Long before we had narrowed down a venue for our destination wedding, we began to research wedding photographers in Bali – we had a lot of people who couldn’t make it to our overseas wedding, so we wanted to make sure that our wedding was able to be captured for our family and friends at home, as well as for preserving our own memories of the day.”

We introduced you to the idea that orange is the happiest colour yesterday and today’s real wedding illustrates just how true that is. There’s so much fun and enjoyment going on in these photos from PhotoFactory. Sarah used her favourite colour palette – peach and tangerine – as the theme to their big day and ensured that this picturesque private villa wedding was packed with personality.

Sarah and Kaz worked hard to make this special day their own; from Sarah’s incredible dress handmade by her talented best friend’s mum, to the DIY decorations and personalised favours. But the real icing on the cake? Sarah had her very own ‘trash the dress’ photo opportunity to the delight of their guests!

Sarah says:

“My Husband Kaz and I were married on the 15th June 2013. After looking at a few place locally in Western Australia and not finding anywhere that we really liked we decided to do it in Bali. Kaz and I wanted somewhere green and lush, picturesque and serine and somewhere we could stay and have the whole day in the one place. We took a weekend visit to Bali to choose a venue – there are so many beautiful places to choose from. Many people choose to stick to the coastline of Bali but we wanted something different.”

Terese says:

“We were married at the Ayana Resort, Jimbaran Bay, Bali – the location was simply breath taking, the resort is situated on the edge of the cliff and over looks the ocean. Simply stunning. We choose a destination wedding as we wanted all the fun and excitement to last longer than a day and it most certainly did. Our guests (76 of them) and us spent five nights in Bali. The lead up to the wedding and the days after were just as fun as the actual day. Everyone was relaxed by the time the day had come round and all had a chance to meet each other.”
