Elopements have become increasingly popular in recent years. Many of the elopements featured on You Mean The World To Me have been of couples that want to get married and legally bind their unity but they simply didn’t want the fuss, the expense or the stress of organising a traditional big white wedding.

This is also true of most of the destination wedding couples featured on the blog too, they get hitched overseas as they want to do things a little differently, escape the complications of planning ‘normal’ nuptials back home and they get to enjoy a trip of a lifetime with their loved ones whilst they’re at it!

Whatever your personal reasons are for eloping or getting married abroad, there is no denying that the beautiful island of Bali creates one of the most breathtaking backdrops for saying ‘I Do.’ Once you see the stunning scenery from today’s elegant elopement you’ll find it hard to want to tie the knot anywhere else!

Caroline and Matt wisely chose magical Mick’s Place for their elopement in Bali. Positioned on the cliff at Binging Beach, this Polynesian-influenced bungalow resort enjoys unrestricted views of the Indian Ocean.

I guarantee that you’ll love everything about this laid-back wedding day; from Caroline’s graceful gown that she teamed with beach-ready barefoot sandals, to the bright tropical blooms and traditional Balinese ceremony, from the casual surfing influences to the enchanting sunset wedding dinner that the couple shared, this is truly a dream destination wedding.

Real Wedding – I Dreamed A Dream In Bali

Leanne & Luke   ♥   Bali, Indonesia

Photographer:   PhotoFactory Bali

You’ve got to love a good international love story! The chance encounter’s halfway around the world, where a lovely pair randomly meet and find the one they’re going to marry; it’s what the word serendipity was surely made for!

Well, today’s darling duo has an equally lovely tale of fate to tell. Leanne is from Wales in the UK and Luke lives in Tasmania. Travel brought them to each other in Tasmania (where they were introduced by a mutual friend) as Leanne was travelling the world. They had a whirlwind romance, fell in love and decided to get hitched, so Leanne started planning to move and set up a new life in Tasmania with Luke and his adorable twin boys. I know…it’s like the perfect romantic movie script!

Due to them both being travel fans and since the guests that would be invited to their wedding would be from every corner of the globe, they decided that a destination wedding somewhere neutral would be the most suitable big day for them.

Leanne had dreamt of saying “I Do” in breathtaking Bali and it seemed the picture-perfect place for friends and family from around the world to meet and celebrate their nuptials. And a dream wedding it was too, from Leanne’s dazzling Jenny Packham dress to the magical cliff top venue, they had their day their way and it was literally a dream come true.

Emma & Brady   ♥   Bali, Indonesia

Photographer:   PhotoFactory Bali

If ever there were a wedding fit for a fairy princess, then it would be today’s sunlit soiree in Bali, captured to perfection by PhotoFactory Bali.

Emma and Brady’s love story began when they met at just seventeen, giving Emma plenty of time to dream the bridal dream and form the vision of their perfect destination day.

Soft pastel petals and twinkling fairy lights decorated the day, along with a vintage twist to their pretty personal touches. The bridesmaids sparkled in the sunshine in sequined dresses, sporting elegant updo’s, and of course the bride stole the show in a fairytale-esque, bespoke bridal gown fashioned with romantic ruffles.

The stunning ocean-view Bali venue gave them the happy ever after ceremony they both wished-for and a fairytale wedding that they’ll never forget…

Real Wedding – We Both Thought Of Bali

Missy & Murray   ♥   Bali, Indonesia

Photographer:   PhotoFactory Bali

Missy and Murray both had Bali in mind as their perfect destination wedding location long before they were even engaged, proving that they were made for each other and that Bali was the perfect fit.

After travelling the island of Bali together on holiday, the couple chose the tropical paradise (and surfing hotspot) of Bingin Beach for their nuptials. Mick’s Place was the venue of choice as it offers the ultimate Bali getaway; secluded bungalow accommodations with infinity pools are situated on top of a cliff with uninterrupted vistas of the vast Indian Ocean – amazing!

They kept their wedding theme simple and let the venue and the views do the talking – one of the distinct advantages of getting married abroad is that the location delivers the ‘wow’ factor.

Missy says:

“We chose Bali as both of us had been there separately. When we were first dating, we had a conversation that started with, Bride: ‘I’m not thinking of getting married, but IF we did, I have a place in mind.’ Groom: ‘Oh really…I actually have a place in mind too…if we ever got married.’  We both thought of Bali. Then we vacationed there a year later, touring the island by scooter and living out of a small backpack. It was there that we planted the seed. Bali was the perfect place for us because the people are so genuine, with deep smiles that come from their souls. Of course it’s beautiful offering diving, hiking, and many picturesque activities as well.”

“We both were inspired by the culture and people of Bali. We knew in this place with such acceptance and love of others we could truly be ourselves. We had Balinese Prince Dewa and his wife Kartika help officiate our most beautiful ceremony. We wanted our guests to feel the culture of Bali and they did. The Prince brought a native Hawaiian flute, an African horn, his amazing chanting and grounding voice, and special offerings as a symbol of our ceremony.  It took place on a 300foot cliff-side overlooking an amazing surfers playground (the Indian Ocean) with the most killer sunset.”

Real Wedding – Traditional Balinese Wedding Ceremony

You Mean The World To Me

Jasmine & Chris   ♥   Bali, Indonesia

Photographer:   Windee Winata – PhotoFactory Bali

There’s so much to love about this intimate elopement; not only did it take place in a luxury boutique hotel in blissful Bali with a traditional Balinese wedding ceremony overlooking the beach but Jasmine the bride wowed her hubby-to-be in a stunning, strapless Monique Lhuillier gown – serious dress envy!

Jasmine says:

“We are natives of the San Francisco Bay Area in California and originally envisioned having a big traditional wedding in Santa Barbara, California at the end of the summer. With all the stresses of wedding planning, and the various expenses adding up, we decided to be selfish on our special day, and make the celebration truly about the two of us. Upon giving it much thought, we decided to move our wedding up six months, and get married in March 2013, rather than September 2013. As you may know, it’s quite cold and rainy in San Francisco during that time of year.”

Real Wedding – Beachside Boho Bliss In Bali

05/02/2014 | 4

You Mean The World To Me

Amity & Alex   ♥   Bali, Indonesia

Photographer:   Windee Winata – PhotoFactory Bali

This blissful beachside wedding is boho chic at its best – with delicate flower crowns, floaty bridesmaid dresses in nearly nude hues and an effortlessly beautiful boho bride.

Amity and Alex chose Bali as their destination wedding location – possibly the most perfect setting for a boho beach wedding!

A relaxed reception with family-style dining added to the informal yet-oh-so-elegant feel of the day. Tables were filled to bursting with flowers, vintage birdcages, Balinese gifts for the guests, and of course a plentiful supply of twinkling candle light and low-slung lanterns, whilst Moroccan leather pouffes provided chill-out areas to gaze at the stunning sunset and enjoy the bonfire party that ended the evening.

Amity says:

“Neither of us are very religious so a church wedding was never an option. Bali is a special place to both of us and before we met we had always thought we would get married there…I saw a wedding on a photography blog I follow and just knew I had to get married on that beach!”

“We sent out of invitations quite early to give our guests plenty of notice to start saving! The invite contained a small information booklet on Bali with tips and suggestions for where to book accommodation. It also had a RSVP postcard with song requests as a part of it – these in addition to the actual invitation, were bound in lace and twine.”
