Helen & Dan   ♥   Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The China Town area of Kuala Lumpur made a bright and bustling backdrop to today’s destination engagement shoot. Helen and Dan live and work in KL and they wanted to capture the essence of the tropical city they call home, along with this special moment in their lives.

Caroline, BlueCicada Photography:

“I am super excited to be the photographer for these two lovebirds’ wedding coming up in August 2014, because it will be my first wedding in Europe. It will take place near Edinburgh (fingers crossed for beautiful weather there), where I have never been before, so double the excitement!”

“We had a mission of wandering around near China Town in the heart of Kuala Lumpur until we found a place where we could eat roti Cenai. If you have never had roti Cenai for breakfast, I highly recommend it! Now, I wouldn’t recommend it everyday for health purposes, but once in a while is just lush.”

“Enjoy the colourful city of KL and the fun moments with this lovely pair!”

Helen says:

“Dan and I met in Edinburgh at university, but our lives took very different paths until we met up again in 2011 back in Edinburgh. I was living in Kuala Lumpur and Dan in Yorkshire. We decided on that day that we ‘re-met’ that he would move to KL. A year later he did (after a year of skype and letter writing- very romantic). We now both live and work as teachers in Malaysia.

Real Wedding – Colourful Caribbean: Cuba

You Mean The World To Me

Bridget & Paul   ♥   Cuba, Caribbean

Photographer:   Iberostar Varadero – Mayrelys Benitez Herrera

Abroad Wedding

Bridget and Paul jetted off to the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean to say ‘I do’, or ‘Si’ in this case! The location choice for their destination wedding was the 20 kilometre stretch of white sandy beach which is Varadero in Cuba.

This stunning tropical setting with year-round blue skies created a colourful Caribbean backdrop to their relaxed, destination wedding day.

Bridget says:

“We are not that traditional so we knew we didn’t want to get married in a church and the cost for a UK wedding was quite high so we decided on going abroad. Originally we looked at Europe but with some destinations you have to have been in the country for so long beforehand and we found it was cheaper in the Caribbean. Cuba was recommended to us by the groom’s brother and there was lots to do to suit everyone.”

“We did have a bit of trouble convincing some of our family, but we had decided so nothing was going to stop us! It was our day after all and this was what we really wanted.”

Anniversary Shoot – As Time Goes By

You Mean The World To Me

Lydie & Christian   ♥   Pangkor Laut, Malaysia

Photographer:   BlueCicada Photography

You Mean The World To Me

We have something a little different to share with you today, in the form of an anniversary shoot. Caroline from BlueCicada Photography sent us these romantic images which capture the essence of a wonderful couple – her mum and stepdad – on a recent visit to the world-class resort of Pangkor Laut in Malaysia.

Caroline grew up in the stunning, scenic region of Provence in France, which is where her mum and stepdad still live. We asked the happy couple for some words of wisdom to inspire us all and to give some insight into what makes a successful relationship. Their lovely story is one of being a team and ultimately working together to make each day and each other cheerful.

PS – Be prepared to turn into a bit of a green-eyed monster; this holiday destination is lush and then some!

Caroline says:

“Lydie is my mum and Christian is my stepdad. They came to visit us in August, for their first time in Malaysia. They were celebrating their sixth year of married bliss so I thought I would offer them a trip to the very lush and very exclusive island of Pangkor Laut and a photo shoot so they could take home beautiful photographs of a trip of a lifetime. Pangkor Laut is definitely the resort you want to get married at or spend your honeymoon if you ever think about Northern Malaysia for your big day. You will want to spend an entire day at their Spa Village, and I hope you also book the hill villa where you will enjoy a bath under the stars!”

Real Wedding – Traditional Tea Ceremony

You Mean The World To Me

Nicole & Michael   ♥   Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Photographer:   BlueCicada Photography

We have died and gone to dress heaven! Today’s bride wore luxurious lace and a pair of Carrie Bradshaw-esque kitten heels. The best part of the bridal outfit? Nicole dressed head-to-toe in pink – the perfect palette for a laid-back, yet super-stylish wedding celebration.

Nicole and Michael live in Hong Kong and earlier this year they married there, with an intimate civil wedding ceremony. They held an informal and relaxed celebration afterwards consisting of a traditional tea ceremony, drinks reception and a wedding dinner at The Ritz Carlton, Kuala Lumpur for family who couldn’t attend their ceremony. Nicole looked pretty in pink, wearing a delicate lace Valentino dress and a pair of bright, bold beauties – hot pink Manolo Blahnik’s.

Caroline from BlueCicada Photography talks us through the couples story:

“Nicole, Michael and I met last March at Le Meridien to have a chat after they had contacted me to potentially be their photographer for their post-wedding celebrations. They were passing through Kuala Lumpur, on their way to the UK from Hong Kong. Already I felt that we had a great connection, the conversation flew easily and I really enjoyed our chat. I was really happy when they got back to me later to ask me to be their photographer for their event in June.”

Real bride review:

“I had so much fun at our engagement shoot and trash the dress session with Caroline from BlueCicada Photography.

She was so skilled at making me (and my husband) feel relaxed, and she had such good ideas of where we should go to get the best snaps.”
