If you are looking to get married abroad and are wanting to find somewhere a little bit different and off the beaten wedding track, then a destination day in heavenly Hungary could be the location for you!

And who could be better to bring you all of the inspiration and information you need to for getting married in Hungary than the talented team of wedding planning experts at Hungarian Weddings? So, if you’re looking for information on how to get married in Hungary, look no further! This destination wedding guide to getting married in Hungary has all the details you need…

Hungarian Weddings:

Couples who choose Hungary as their wedding country all have on thing in common: they want to show-off Hungary to their wedding guests!

One of the most popular places and wedding styles to have is a luxury wedding in the beautiful, bustling city of Budapest. For this, couples choose a five-star downtown hotel as their wedding venue, with classic and modern styles to choose from, most of which overlook the darling Danube.

The other well-liked choice is to have an authentic Hungarian countryside wedding. Here you can find thatched roofed buildings with red geraniums in the windows, incredible horse-shows (the so-called csárda and tanya – Hungarian ranches – are typical on the Great Plain) and lots of delicious Hungarian food.

The always-popular small castles are also loved by couples planning their nuptials in Hungary, but our new highlighted wedding venue ‘Wedding Garden Budapest’ has gone to the top of the wedding trend list!

Wedding ceremonies

Civil wedding ceremony

In Hungary the legally binding wedding is the civil wedding. Foreign citizens can get legally married in Hungary, however bureaucracy and the time and effort it takes for the required paperwork often deters couples coming from abroad.

Therefore, most couples looking to have their destination wedding in Hungary have the legal civil ceremony at home first to complete the necessary paperwork and then they treat their ceremony in Hungary as their actual wedding day.

Symbolic wedding ceremony

The symbolic wedding ceremony has a similar feeling to a civil ceremony and is held by a ceremony keeper, however as previously mentioned this is not legally binding. It is very popular due to the impracticalities of being able to meet the requirements of an official civil marriage.

A symbolic wedding ceremony can be customized as per your wishes and such kind of wedding ceremonies can take place almost anywhere and anytime.

It’s always such a delight to see a wedding with traditional elements from the country within which the couple is tying the knot. It adds character, local charm and creates a unique twist to a wedding day, whilst bringing together the international elements of getting married abroad. If you also adore worldwide wedding customs, you are in for a treat today…

Lisa and Alex are blogging their way around the world as 2People1Life, tying the knot in every country they visit. They never expected their trip to Hungary to be quite as monumental as it was; Hungarian Weddings planned a modern wedding for them, a super-cute, vintage-vibe styled shoot (don’t miss the retro short film that shows all of the fun they had that day!) and today’s traditional Hungarian ceremony which was wedding number 53.

It came complete with lovely local dresses for Lisa, beautiful bright blooms, customary folk costumes, traditional Hungarian Goulash, shots of Palinka and an awesome show which ended with some splendid dancing skills – all caught on camera by the talented Timea Pictures and filmed by La Memoire (not to be missed, this sweet short film perfectly captures the essence of the day and it is coming up later today on the blog folks!).

This week is dedicated to weddings in Hungary! When they visited the increasingly popular destination of Hungary, the very lovely Lisa and Alex (also known as 2People1Life – who are tying the knot in every country they visit as they travel the globe), were treated to a wonderful modern wedding, a traditional Hungarian ceremony and today’s sunshine-filled styled shoot by the very hospitable Hungarian Weddings

So it seemed only right to show these fantastic features all together, along with a destination wedding guide to getting married in Hungary – be sure to come back to the blog each day this week to enjoy a sneak peek into what heavenly Hungary has to offer!

This retro-inspired styled wedding shoot took place at the ‘Hungarian Sea’ – which is actually a 50-mile long freshwater lake called Balaton Lake, the largest lake in Central Europe no less. With a 70s vibe to the day, a super-cute vintage car, bright fields of sunflowers and a visit to the fairground, this shoot looked like it was fun and then some!

Lisa says:

“Of course, normally we just hold ONE wedding in every country we visit (except those rather large diverse ones such as America, England, Canada etc) but Hungary was going to break the mould in more ways than one! Hungarian Weddings cover so many international weddings that they had SO much they wanted to show us. So the day after wedding 52 we were on the road to our next wedding destination!”

With not one, but two Hungarian weddings and a sunshiny styled shoot, all planned to perfection for them by Hungarian Weddings, it seemed only right to show these fantastic features all together, along with a destination wedding guide to getting married in Hungary. So, be sure to come back to the blog each day this week to enjoy a sneak peek into what heavenly Hungary has to offer!

Lisa and Alex tied the knot for the 52nd time beside the River Danube in Budapest, Hungary. As always, the precious couple looked super pretty (this time in pink!) and the locations chosen for their ‘I Do’s’ were simply stunning. The romantic lighting as the sunset behind the magnificent city buildings that created their backdrop helped to make this one dreamy wedding day and to showcase Hungary as the darling destination that it is. Enjoy!
