Evri & Mert ♥ Rome, Italy
Photographer: White Rabbit Photography
Aren’t elopements romantic? Just you, your beau and a beautiful destination. They’re simply about the two of you tying the knot…nothing else….and no wedding politics! Sound like bliss? Then you’ll love today’s destination elopement….
Evri and Mert choose to elope and boy did they go for a great location! They jetted off from their homeland of Turkey to Rome – one of the most romantic cities in the world. They said “I Do” in the Turkish embassy and then they strolled the sunlit streets of this magical ancient city, taking in the sights and each other on their truly special day….
Tiffany & Ryan ♥ Maui, Hawaii
Photographer: Karma Hill Photography
Po’olenalena Beach is a long, golden sand beach on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui. Renowned for its spectacular sunsets this fine stretch of coastline has recently become a favourite spot for beachfront wedding ceremonies and breathtaking wedding photographs.
Just wait until you take a gander through these intimate destination wedding pictures…you’ll fall head over heels for this special corner of the world too!
Tiffany and Ryan tied the knot, just the two of them, right beside the shoreline, the ocean lapping at the lava rocks surrounding them whilst the sun just started to set, painting the sky a pretty display of pink and purple.
The oh-so-talented team from Karma Hill Photography captured the happy moments on camera before taking the newly weds onto the sand for some couple shots just as night began to fall over the Pacific Ocean. Could there be anything more romantic??!
Hannah & Gareth ♥ Lake Garda, Italy
If there’s one location that delivers destination weddings with a generous side order of romance, it’s Italy. Big time. Every time.
Gareth and Hannah married on a beautifully blue-skied day in May, in Gardone Riviera, an intimate lakeside resort on the luscious Lake Garda in Italy. They eloped from Stafford in the UK to tie the knot, just the two of them, surrounded by breathtaking beauty and bathed in glorious sunshine – pure romantic bliss.
Together, they got ready for their dreamy day ahead, quietly enjoying their rustic chic B&B with wonderful views over the water, before being whisked off to their Town Hall ceremony on a tuk-tuk! Their talented photographer then took them on a walking tour of the historical town, capturing the precious first moments as excited newlyweds and soaking up the stunning views.
So if you’re thinking of eloping, I’m quite sure this intimate Italian lake elopement might just make up your mind!
Caroline & Matt ♥ Bali, Indonesia
Photographer: Windee Winata – PhotoFactory Bali
Elopements have become increasingly popular in recent years. Many of the elopements featured on You Mean The World To Me have been of couples that want to get married and legally bind their unity but they simply didn’t want the fuss, the expense or the stress of organising a traditional big white wedding.
This is also true of most of the destination wedding couples featured on the blog too, they get hitched overseas as they want to do things a little differently, escape the complications of planning ‘normal’ nuptials back home and they get to enjoy a trip of a lifetime with their loved ones whilst they’re at it!
Whatever your personal reasons are for eloping or getting married abroad, there is no denying that the beautiful island of Bali creates one of the most breathtaking backdrops for saying ‘I Do.’ Once you see the stunning scenery from today’s elegant elopement you’ll find it hard to want to tie the knot anywhere else!
Caroline and Matt wisely chose magical Mick’s Place for their elopement in Bali. Positioned on the cliff at Binging Beach, this Polynesian-influenced bungalow resort enjoys unrestricted views of the Indian Ocean.
I guarantee that you’ll love everything about this laid-back wedding day; from Caroline’s graceful gown that she teamed with beach-ready barefoot sandals, to the bright tropical blooms and traditional Balinese ceremony, from the casual surfing influences to the enchanting sunset wedding dinner that the couple shared, this is truly a dream destination wedding.
Ralizabeth & Junior ♥ Ponce, Puerto Rico
Photographer: Carlos Torres Luna Photography
Ralizabeth and Junior were first featured on the blog a few months ago, with their pretty park life engagement pictures.
Their long distance love story is a truly lovely one, with the first four years of them getting to know each other being over the phone between New Jersey and Puerto Rico. Be sure to head on over and read the full adorable story and how Junior proposed (he did well – it’s a real tear jerker!) if you missed it.
Fast-forward from the engagement to the wedding and Ralizabeth and Junior’s story is a similar one to most of the destination wedding couples who are featured on the blog; Ralizabeth hadn’t been dreaming of a big white wedding and she knew in her heart of hearts that only something unique and personal to her and Junior as a couple would do. Local venues were an attractive offer, yet there seemed to be a certain something missing.
They decided upon an intimate wedding in Puerto Rico with just their nearest and dearest as witnesses, and they knew just the place! Junior had taken Ralizabeth to a beautiful, homely castle venue high up in the hills overlooking Ponce on one of their initial dates. What could be more dreamy?
This fabulous Fall wedding is bursting with romance and rich autumnal colours, with breathtaking views as a backdrop, and not only that, but Ralizabeth and Junior had their destination day their way and the happiness that this brought to them and their immediate family is clear to see.
Sophie & Joel ♥ Victoria, Australia
Photographer: Sarah Christensen Photo
At first glance, you could easily mistake Sophie and Joel’s beach elopement as a stylish shoot! Not only did Sophie the bride look effortlessly chic (the ultimate style for a blissful beach elopement) whilst her hubby-to-be and little boy Bill were rocking some serious beach ceremony cool, but the oh-so-talented Sarah Christensen was also by their side to capture the emotion and the nature of this darling day.
Elopements are becoming increasingly popular and it seems that this growth is due to similar reasons that couples tend to have a wedding abroad; they’re looking to tie the knot without the fanfare of a traditional big white wedding at home, and most are hoping for something more intimate, a little different and a wedding that is more unique and personal to them as a couple.
Simple yet overflowing with everything that is important at a wedding: love, happiness, unity and personality, of course!
“Sophie and Joel’s elopement was simple but absolutely stunning. They escaped to a gorgeous little stone cottage in Cape Bridgewater, a tiny town on The Great Ocean Road, Victoria and posted letters to their family and friends on the morning of the wedding to say: Surprise! We’re married.”
