Aghareed by Lafayette Weddings:

Dubai is one of the seven territories that make up the United Arab Emirates, a country located in the Arabian Gulf. By far the most popular city in the region for visitors, Dubai has blossomed from its humble beginnings as a pearl-diving and fishing community into a bustling new metropolis. It now takes pride of place in the Middle East as an international business hub and major tourist destination, attracting millions of holidaymakers each year.

In spite of its amazing changes, Dubai still retains a unique Arabic charm that only adds to its attraction. Its traditional old world heritage combined with an exciting vibrancy as a city that is going places makes it a spectacular venue for couples seeking a unique wedding experience. If you are considering getting married in Dubai, you need to know exactly how to go about arranging it and what you can expect. Aghareed, the UAE-based wedding concierge service, answers some important questions for you about having your most important day in the wonderful city of Dubai…

Wedding ceremonies

If you want to legally marry, then you need to be in Dubai for a certain amount of time and the final decision will be made by the religious official you want to conduct your service. We suggest that you do all the paperwork for your marriage in your home country and then have a blessing in Dubai.

If you live in Dubai, you can legally marry at a local church, such as Christ Church in Jebel Ali or St. Mary’s in Oud Metha. There are a few priests and vicars in Dubai who will carry out the legal ceremony at an external venue, such as at a beach for a blessing. Contact the church to arrange a meeting with the vicar or priest. The next step is that you will be asked to attend marriage classes with a group of other engaged couples.

Today’s real wedding film will bring a glow to your Monday morning; not only because Nathalie and Omar’s wedding took place on a beautiful palm-fringed beach beneath the clear blue sunshiny sky of Dubai, but also because they just seem so truly happy, their beautiful day is full of fun and it ends with everyone dancing in the moonlight.

This glamorous, sleek and stylish Dubai city wedding took place at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton beach resort. Nathalie stole the show, ever the graceful and elegant bride in her gorgeous Jenny Packham gown, whilst her ‘something blue’ was a pair of cobalt blue Manolo Blahnik shoes no less! A stunning setting and a super-cute couple made for a wonderful worldwide wedding.

You Mean The World To Me

We were lucky enough that this was our second visit to the United Arab Emirate city of Dubai and so we knew what to expect…although having previously visited didn’t stop us from getting giddy with excitement as we came in to land over the iconic cityscape. Looking out the airplane window, a sea of lights sparkled in the dark, mapping out the streets below (and The Palm and The World!) that make up this dynamic desert conurbation.

Trash The Dress – Dive Right In Dubai

Dubai Trash The Dress

Charlie & Jono   ♥   Dubai, UAE

Photographer:   BlueCicada Photography

If you’re going to do a trash the dress session, this is how it should be done! The warm waters of Dubai look so inviting, you can see why Charlie and Jono were keen to dive right in.

Charlie manages to look every bit the beautiful bride when she’s been climbing over oil slicked boats in the crazy temperatures of the Dubai summer and even after diving headfirst into the Arabian Sea!

Her gown looks just as gorgeous floating in the surf as it would have done on her wedding day, especially the twisted strap detailing on the back. **Dashing off to check out the designer of Charlie’s dress – Nicole Miller**

Charlie says:

“In true Dubai-style, Jono proposed to me post-brunch, which means post-all-you-can-drink-champagne, so we weren’t in the best state! Luckily he’d been prepared for a couple of months with a ring that he’d had made to include a diamond that was in my Grandmother’s engagement ring – good boy! Not sure how him and my Mum managed to keep that one secret from nosy me though!”

“As soon as I told my friend Caroline (who is a photographer – BlueCicada Photography) that we were engaged, she immediately offered to do an engagement shoot for us.”

“We wanted our wedding to be as relaxed and inclusive as possible, so we got married in London, where we first met 4 years beforehand. Our mum’s did the flowers and everything was a family affair, from the favours to the artwork. We used one of Caroline’s engagement snaps for our order of service leaflet – everyone loved it.”

Don’t you just love engagement shoots? Being newly engaged is such a special time in your life. You are overwhelmed with excitement from the recent proposal whilst enjoying the whirlwind of starting to plan your wedding. An engagement shoot captures your happiness at this magical time, creating memories that you will treasure forever.

Having the Dubai cityscape as a backdrop for your engagement shoot is on another level though! What a great memento for Charlie and Jono of their life together in the fantastic city of Dubai.

“As soon as I told my friend Caroline (who is a photographer – BlueCicada Photography) that we were engaged, she immediately offered to do an engagement shoot for us. We were both slightly unsure what to expect, and a little apprehensive, but it didn’t take long before we were getting right into it, with Caroline’s relaxed and fun approach to the shoot.”

“We’d lived together in Dubai for a couple of years by this point, so Caroline suggested that we shoot in the Old Town area where we live which has a real Arabic flavour, as well as near the iconic building of Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest tower). Caroline was in the zone, snapping away, switching lenses, climbing on benches etc to get the perfect angle, while we had some hilarious conversations and a great time!”
