Claire & Kevin ♥ Bordeaux, France
I love it when you stumble across a totally new and exciting holiday locale that you knew nothing about previously, but that instantly makes you want to add it to your future must-visit list. One such delightful destination is the beautiful beach location that Claire and Kevin chose for their engagement shoot – Biscarrosse, situated on the Atlantic Coast in southwest France.
Apparently a renowned surfing spot that attracts surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers from across the whole of Europe, Biscarrosse is also surrounded by three inland lakes that come complete with water activities and is settled beside the largest forest in Europe (the Forest of Gascony), therefore developing itself into a family-friendly beach and outdoor activity vacation resort.
Biscarosse beach sports a busy beach life vibe with a central plaza and pedestrian streets that are packed with restaurants and bars with buzzing outdoor-terraces and as the sun sets the atmosphere comes alive with street performances and live music. Sounds like a truly idyllic summer vacay spot doesn’t it and could there be a more picturesque setting for a sundowner engagement shoot?!
This cute couple and their photography team (Ossama and his wife – film wedding photographers from OssaPhoto) wanted to capture the action, love and beautiful light of this stunning beach haven and draw us in to the feeling of an endless summer in France….I think that they did just that!

Unique venues are what destination weddings are all about and today’s retro wedding takes distinctive to a whole new level!
Nadja and Andi held their vintage-inspired celebration at the quirky BaseCamp in Bonn, Germany. Described by many as the coolest place in the world this indoor campground is home to 15 vintage caravans, two nightsleepers, two American Airstreams and two VW vans, all artfully decorated by a movie set decorator! Not only a kitsch setting for a wedding, you can also sleep over at the site. How fab is that? You won’t be able to help but smile and fall in love with this wonderful one-off wedding day….
This week’s destination wedding in Corfu has helped to highlight that one of the great things about getting married abroad (although there are many!) is that it is makes your wedding more than a one day event.
The day’s surrounding your big day will be just as filled with love and laughter as the ceremony day itself. This presents the perfect opportunity to plan great get-togethers with your nearest and dearest…and don’t forget to get as many photographs of these memorable moments as possible!
Katie and Roubesh tied the knot on the breathtakingly beautiful island of Corfu (be sure to take a look at their gorgeous garden wedding). Not only did they hold a sunset cocktail party to welcome their guests to their island wedding but they also took advantage of being surrounded by stunning scenery the day after their nuptials, keeping the celebrations going by heading to the high seas with their loved ones for a day of swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. Pure bliss!
Penelope Photography was on hand to capture this special time as Katie and Roubesh celebrated being newlyweds with their friends and family. Enjoy the charming Corfu scenery, it sure does make you want to go on holiday!

I almost don’t know where to begin with describing today’s destination wedding! It’s tempting to say it’s AMAZING and leave it at that as it truly is stunning and the incredible photographs from Penelope Photography perfectly convey the essence of this gorgeous garden wedding…
…Of course I can’t just leave it there though! It would be just plain rude of me to not mention the flowers for a start; I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a more beautiful flower-filled destination wedding day.
Katie and Roubesh chose a fabulous private villa in Corfu for their outdoor ceremony and reception, and they covered every element of their celebration with soft, delicate, pastel buds. From the wow-factor floral altar to the wedding aisle bursting with blooms, from the blossoming table décor to the fragrant lavender boutonnieres, this darling day was everything you could dream a garden wedding to be and more.
The flickering candlelit lanterns and Katie’s soft lace sweetheart gown further complemented the romantic and dreamy atmosphere. *Sigh!* You’re going to love this one….
One of the best things about getting married abroad is that you get to enjoy a holiday with all of your loved ones! Make this special time together even more memorable by planning get-togethers such as a welcome party – this will give your guests time to properly unwind after their long journey whilst creating an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other before the big day.
Katie and Roubesh decided to do just that. As a warm welcome for their nearest and dearest who had travelled from all over the world for their special day, they threw an alfresco cocktail party, perfectly setting the stylish tone for their gorgeous garden wedding day in Corfu…which is coming up on the blog later this morning! It’s seriously amazing and not to be missed!
Here’s a glimpse at their pre-wedding sunset soiree to give you a little taster of the chic celebration that is to come on the blog later today, along with some inspiration and ideas for planning a welcome party at your own destination wedding.
According to a report published in 2013 by LV= travel insurance, one in six married British couples tied the knot abroad in the past five years whilst in America according to the BRIDES 2014 American Wedding Study, 16 percent of Americans have a destination wedding!
So once you decide that getting married abroad is for you the most important (and sometimes challenging) decision to make is where in the world to get married. With so many incredible options to choose from it can be hard to know where to start.
So with this in mind, this week’s Friday Five brings you the most popular European wedding locations for 2015. These colourful countries are topping the popularity charts when it comes to tying the knot in Europe, so you’re bound to find some inspiration for your own destination day.
