Grace described her wedding as simple and sparkling and with a venue choice like the Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay, Bali you wouldn’t expect anything less than the stylish, shimmering, champagne sipping soiree that Grace and Matthew enjoyed.

The luxurious oceanfront location provided a romantic and authentic Balinese backdrop to the couple’s elegant ceremony. Grace added a delicious dose of DIY details to really make this dreamy destination day their own.

Grace says:

“Matt and I met four years ago when he was in Singapore for a weekend to see his best friend who later became his Best Man. They went out for a drink that night and so did my friends and I. The weekend after that, Matt came back to Singapore for our first official date. He came to Singapore from Australia in 2007 and was immediately stationed to a project in Thailand. At that time I was already working in Singapore for over a year.”

“On our 3rd year anniversary we went to the beautiful Island Boracay in my home country Philippines. He proposed to me in a very romantic private dinner in one of Shangri-La’s pavilions, overlooking the beach. The walkway to the private pavilion was full of red roses and candles alongside. He proposed to me before we had our dessert (in case I got tired and called it a night!). It was a perfect moment and was everything I could have dreamt of.”

“We decided to have our wedding in Bali, Indonesia where both our families from Australia and Philippines can easily travel to and our friends that are mostly from Singapore. We had 62 guests and the rindik instrument was played upon guest arrival to set the mood.  With the help of our very nice wedding coordinator in Four Seasons Jimbaran, my dream elegant sunset outdoor wedding came to life. The ceremony was in the Jimbaran garden overlooking the Jimbaran beach. The colour combination was simple and sparkling.”

“In the ceremony we had gold tiffany chairs with champagne sashes and a gold message tree. We had a beautiful flower arch full of white roses and the aisle was showered with white frangipani. I brought my DIY program fans and message tree cards for the ceremony. It was very picturesque, and our wedding violinist added the romantic touch.”

“We had a cocktail right after the ceremony for the guest to cool off and socialize. Also time for them to write messages and best wishes in our message tree and to keep them entertained we had the violinist playing dance songs.”

“The reception was in the resort’s infinity pool area, facing the open sea and the pool was decorated with hundreds of candles. We had tall white flower centrepieces with gold stand and white hanging gems. The frangipani trees were decorated with hanging yellow light bulbs that reflected beautifully on the mirror based table setting. Our tables were names of favourite cities we visited. I also brought gold napkin rings, my DIY favours bags and place cards to accentuate the table. The whole setting was just right as I had pictured it in my head, the beautiful full moon as the backdrop just came as a bonus. Most of the stationeries were my DYI projects and it made the wedding even more special to me.”

“The reception felt elegant and cozy at the same time, the background music played by the band seemed to have always fit the mood and the program. The band opened the program with the introduction of the wedding party and followed by a champagne shower and toast. We chose to have one of our close friends to be the MC to have a more relaxed and intimate feel. It was like a roller coaster ride, we got emotional and teary eyed on some of the touching speeches, and laughed with some of the jokes. Everyone was entertained when we played the photo clips from our old photos growing up and our moments together. The food was succulent and the gold colour fruit cake was a seller. We ended the program with the guests sending LED balloons in the air as best wishes for us and a fire dance.”

“For the after party we moved to the Four Season’s residence villa, which started with the exotic fire dancers and an open bar all the way till the morning. Our guest were so ecstatic and really had a great time, we all did not want the evening to end.”

What were your highlights and your favourite memories from the day?

  • “We did not see each other a day before the wedding so I already missed him. I was very nervous walking down the aisle. When I went to the end of the steps and saw him close looking at me teary eyed, I just melted and felt much secured. I reached out to him right away and couldn’t wait to be close to him. We were in tears when we said our vows to each other, it felt very comforting and thankful to be saying it right of front of the man you will spend the rest of your life with.”

Do you have any advice for couples who are looking to get married in Bali?

  • “If you are planning an outdoor wedding, trust the weather man and pick the right month. Once you have done that, just cross your fingers and let it all happen don’t worry too much. Just make sure that you have a back-up plan.”

Do you have any wedding budget tips?

  • “Have a budget book, if you overspend on some items, make sure you make up on other items in the book. Try to do DYI projects – it keeps you involved and you can really put your own style to the wedding.”

Isn’t Grace one of the most beautiful brides you’ve ever seen? Her gorgeous, backless gown is so fitting for a fly away bride.

Did you feel the love from the first look moment between her and Matthew too? A real tearjerker.

Today’s Four Seasons wedding was simple and sparkling as Grace described…..and oh-so-special as well.
