Lisa & Strider ♥ Maui, Hawaii
Photographer: Julie Comfort of Comfort Studio
The heavenly islands of Hawaii have long been top of the honeymoon hotlist and they make a pretty perfect sunshine-soaked destination wedding spot too.
The picture-postcard Polynesian island of Maui hosted Lisa and Strider’s intimate yet elegant sunlit soiree. They tied the knot as close to the waters edge as they could get, with the gentle sounds and salt spray of the rolling Pacific waves surrounding them.
Lisa rocked a classic and graceful grown, while Strider wore traditional Hawaiian Leis around his neck, symbolizing the love of the groom for his bride. Darling DIY details added a vintage vibe to this wonderful waterside wedding, all caught on camera by the creative Comfort Studio.
If you’re looking for a laid-back celebration in a stunning tropical setting, you won’t go far wrong with a relaxed waters edge ceremony in Hawaii.
“Location is everything! We fell in love with the small quaint house that overlooks Kapalua Bay and knew this was it. Once we locked in our venue at the Cliff House it was all very organic from there.”
“The small house only allows 30 people max which makes a guest list challenging! We made it work by inviting only our immediate family and our closest friends who have know ‘us’ through the years. Members from our second family, Kahana Canoe Club (where we first met 9 years ago) paddled up to the Bay and watched the wedding from a sailing canoe and a fishing boat.”
“With such an amazing setting the rest was easy. Everything just started falling into place, the dress I found right away simple and classic Old Hollywood, which inspired a vintage theme wedding; with a beachy twist. My maid of honor and I had a blast shopping in vintage shops for old vases, bottles, etc. it felt like we were treasure hunting. Vintage shops and chalkboard spray paint and we were done! The wedding invites also stayed true to the theme taking on a vintage chalkboard look.”
“The day couldn’t have been more perfect. We wed cliff side as close to the water as possible while our guest viewed from the balcony of the house. Once it was official we were showered with red rose petals from above it was incredible! It was just as we envisioned everyone coming together to celebrate the joining of two families. Eat, drink and be MARRIED!!”
“Our musician was a good friend of ours who is a part of a local group known as ‘Lahaina Grown‘. For our wedding he played classic Hawaiian music. Our wedding was non-traditional in a sense where we wanted a very casual feel. There was no first dance or cutting of the cake. It was a gathering of all the people who have loved and supported us through the years.”
