Pretty pink David Austin roses, a delicate lace dress and a luxurious hotel reception overlooking the rooftops of Old Town Florence, with the guests sipping cocktails as the sun goes down – yes, today’s summer soiree is destination wedding heaven!
Zoe and Guy decided to wave goodbye to their typically rainy home in the UK and jet-off with their nearest and dearest to Florence in Italy to tie the knot outdoors with a sunshine-filled garden ceremony at the unique five star Villa Tolomei Hotel.
This exceptional renaissance villa resort not only delivered on the Italian character front, it also enabled the bride, groom and their guests to enjoy a totally private, rural wedding day with a chic city right on the doorstep, just waiting to be explored over the wedding weekend.
Zoe the bride says:
“The beautiful Villa Tolomei Hotel & Resort in Florence, Italy is a five star hotel 10 minutes from the centre of old town Florence but, set into the hillside to give a secluded feel.”
“We chose the hotel as it’s so close to Florence but when you are at the hotel it feels secluded and has amazing views of the hills to the front, and Florence from the terrace at the back.”
“It meant there was plenty for our guests to do as they could laze by the gorgeous pool or head out to explore the beautiful city and surrounding areas.”
“We knew that we wanted a location where we could have it exclusively for our guests and us for a weekend so with the hotel only having 30 rooms it was the perfect size.”
“It is also extremely picturesque and had the romantic look that we were after as well as ideal areas to host the various elements of the day.”
“All of the staff at the hotel were so helpful and friendly throughout the weekend and made it such a wonderful experience for us, and our guests.”
“We wanted a wedding that was unique and different to a typical wedding in the UK (normally in the rain!) were we could spend plenty of time celebrating with our nearest and dearest. Guests were travelling from all over the world so it was nice to have this additional time to see them.”
“We wanted to give the guests a true experience that lasted more than a day and therefore invited guests from a Friday to Sunday with an organised event on Friday evening and the wedding on the Saturday, but allowing plenty of opportunity for guests to relax by the pool or take in the sights of Florence.”
“After visiting Villa Tolomei and seeing the perfect places for the ceremony (front garden) and the reception (the loggia and terrace) it was a very simple decision. The venue was also the perfect backdrop for the romantic, elegant, classic look we were after with a touch of vintage.”
“The majority of guests arrived on Friday afternoon so that we could transport them down to the old part of Florence to a pizzeria called O’Munaciello. We had a fantastic evening with wine and plenty of delicious pizza! Many of our guests said it is the best pizza they have ever had! The following day we left the guests to enjoy the sites of Florence or relax by the pool before the wedding started at 4PM.”
“It was wonderful to have the daytime views of the city during the cocktail time, the sunset during dinner and the ambience of the city lights as we danced on the terrace at night.”
“As our guests enjoyed the cocktail time, we had family photos at the front of the hotel and then Guy and I went to an area five minutes away with our photographer to take some couple photos. It was such a stunning location with amazing views of Il Duomo and the city centre of Florence.”
