Let There Be Light

My husband and I were in Barcelona recently on a lovely, sunshine mini-break. One evening, as we meandered through the cobbled, gothic streets of the city in search of a restaurant (and our next jug of sangria!), we spotted a tiny place up ahead. Its exterior was adorned in fairy lights and was like a romantic, twinkling beacon down through the dark alleyways.

I said to my husband that fairy lights are such a simple addition but they’re always a sure-fire way to attract people! The restaurant looked beautiful and quaint wrapped up in the cute little lights and their al fresco tables and chairs were full to the brim and bustling with customers.

I love the instant romanticism you get from subtle, sparkling lights. Candles burning brightly, twinkling strings of fairy lights, lines of delicate lanterns swaying in the breeze – I can’t resist a wedding with such shimmering details. It’s such an easy way to add a little touch of magic to your venue.

So, here’s a little light inspiration. From real weddings to buy now pieces for your own reception or party, I hope this brightens up your day!

Shine bright like a diamond:

Hang votive candle holders and lanterns in the trees at an outdoor reception or line the tables with church candles and flowers at an indoor reception.

Twinkle, twinkle little star:

Fairy lights are a simple and cost effective way to add a little twinkling light to any venue. Add to a marquee, wrap them in the trees, nestle them in hanging branches or string them up high in the air.

Burning brightly:

You can’t beat candles and flickering candlelight. No-one ever says that they look bad in a bit of soft candlelight and they instantly add a touch of romance. Grouped together on tables, lining walkways or used as part of an impressive centrepiece; they work so well at creating atmosphere at evening receptions.
