If you are thinking about getting married in Ibiza, then our Destination Wedding Guide is a great place to start, bringing you all of the inspiration, information and contacts you need to start planning your magical Ibiza wedding.
The untouched beauty of Ibiza with its turquoise waters, secluded coves, secret idyllic beaches, spectacular mountain vistas and rugged pine forests can be found perfectly intertwined with cosmopolitan beach bars, the world’s best clubs, crowd-pleasing sunsets, legendary Balearic beats and an eclectic vintage vibe.
A wedding in Ibiza can be an unforgettable holiday for both you and your guests and it’s the perfect place for a short mini-moon or your honeymoon after your big day.
Almost everyone in Ibiza speaks some English and with a lot of Brits involved in the Ibiza wedding industry, it makes it an easy-going place to arrange a destination wedding.
The chilled-out vibe of Ibiza is a major draw for couples wanting a relaxed affair – one that they can really make their own and add their individual stamp to.
Catholic church wedding
If you or your partner is Catholic, a Catholic church wedding is legally binding and the only way that UK couples can legally get married in Ibiza. A Catholic Church Ceremony is a beautiful affair in one of the islands quintessentially Spanish churches.
Most of the required paperwork will need to be done in the UK by you with your own priest. You will need to gain a Certificate of No Impediment, attend a Marriage Preparation Course and obtain other requested official documents and paperwork. All paperwork must be completed on time, sent correctly to Ibiza and in the correct manner. This, combined with organizing the actual church booking and ceremony in a foreign country can seem like a daunting task.
Your wedding planner in Ibiza will be able to help you with all of the necessary requirements and they may put you in touch with Wedding Ceremonies Ibiza – who can assist in arranging your church ceremony. Wedding Ceremonies Ibiza can organise and book the church with an English-speaking priest, advise and assist you with all of the paperwork, plus they are fantastic musicians and can be booked to play at your church ceremony and/or reception too.
Religious church blessing
Couples can have an Anglican, English-speaking, non-legal church blessing within select Roman Catholic churches upon the island. You would be required to legally marry at a civil ceremony in the UK first and to then have your church blessing in Ibiza. Again, a wedding planner or Wedding Ceremonies Ibiza can help to organise this for you.
Christian or non-religious blessing
A Christian or non-religious blessing can take place in hotel grounds, in a private villa garden, at an exclusive beach bar, or on a cliff-top. Again, you would be required to legally marry at a civil ceremony in the UK before this ceremony.
Blessings can be arranged through an Ibiza wedding planner or an in-house wedding planning team if you have your wedding at one of the islands beautiful hotels or beach clubs.
- San Carlos
Set in the small rural village of San Carlos, the church sits proudly in the middle of the village, next to the manicured village green, with views of the rolling countryside. This attractive whitewashed stone church, with its imposing arched entrance is perfect for keeping out of the sun before and after the ceremony. This little church oozes Spanish charm inside, with its traditional white and blue ceramic tiles and heavy wooden doors and adornments.
- Santa Eulalia Puig de Missa
The beautiful old church sits like a fortress, high on a hilltop (52 metres above sea level) over-looking the third largest town on the Island – Santa Eulalia – and has views to the sea. An ornate, gilded, baroque altar takes center stage inside the mighty whitewashed walls.
- San Rafael
San Rafael is a small, quiet village conveniently located in the center of the island – making the English speaking Ibiza church only a short distance to any reception venue. The San Rafael church offers views across the land as far as Ibiza Town.
- San Miguel
The imposing whitewashed church of San Miguel sits on top of a hill high, above the village. This impressive fortress church is one of the oldest on the island and has sweeping views of the pine forests below.
- San Agustine
San Agustine is a picturesque little hamlet situated on a hilltop overlooking the west coast of the island. Its impressive, yet humble church makes a beautiful venue for those looking at more westerly reception venues.

Wedding planners and venues
Using one of the island’s wedding planning services can be a great avenue to go down. Not only will they assist with all of the planning of your big day, they can also recommend and book trusted suppliers for all elements of your wedding, taking away any of the stresses of getting married abroad.
They will also be able to show you venues that you may never have come across yourself such as: private villas, quaint beach-side restaurants and small Agroturismo hotels and restored fincas, hidden in the Ibiza countryside, perched on cliff tops with spectacular sea-views, or tucked away in the pine tree mountains. One major benefit of choosing one of these sorts of venues is that you book to have exclusive use – compared to some hotels or venues where other holidaying guests may be present. You can also have more free reign over styling your venue and your day, your way.
Wedding planning services:
Hotels and beach clubs
There are some stunning hotels and sea-view restaurants in Ibiza where your wedding can take place. They have their own wedding teams and some work with the Wedding Planning Services listed above too and so again, it can keep things simple when organising from the UK.
Can Gall is a typical Ibizan country house (finca) which is more than 200 years old, situated in the north and has been totally restored whilst retaining its original charm. You will find our rooms authentically decadent, with the emphasis on comfort to the highest quality. Agroturismo Can Gall is the ideal spot for your wedding or to simply enjoy a well earned rest and enjoy the beauty and charm of Ibiza from this oasis on the White Isle.
Atzaro is a centuries old family finca, which has been lovingly restored in to a luxury, boutique hotel complete with spa. Atzaro not only exemplifies chic accommodation but also tops the cool charts with its sushi and cocktail bars, art lounges, a new fashion lounge and frequent live DJ sessions. Rurally located, this Agroturismo hotel is surrounded by orange groves and views of the mountains.
Hidden in a quiet corner of Santa Eulalia, the grand Insotel Fenicia Prestige comes complete with exclusive bars and lounges and an attractive outdoor pool with spacious terraces and lush gardens.
You’ll find modern simplicity and all the mod cons you could desire at Aguas De Ibiza. This exclusive, tranquil hideaway also has a fantastic spa and an envious roof top bar – Air Ibiza – complete with plunge pool and incredible views over Santa Eulalia Marina.
If it’s dramatic views that you’re looking, then Hotel Hacienda will not disappoint. The hotel is spectacularly carved in to a cliff, 180m high above the sea, in the heart of a preserved natural park. It’s all about the wow-factor view with this venue.
Set in a beautiful cove, the Amante Beach Club overlooks the Sol D’en Serra bay. Its stylish décor, fresh and tasty menu and incredible location, make Amante a firm favourite with many – whether it be for a simple seafood lunch or private hire for a wedding reception.
Opened in 2012 by the owners of catering and wedding planning company Eat Ibiza, Elixir Shore Club is situated in Cala Codolar on the West Coast of Ibiza, overlooking Es Vedra.
With daily flights and just two hours flying time from the UK, Ibiza is an easily accessible destination wedding location. Booking flights early enough can ensure that it is an affordable choice for your guests too.
The availability of reasonably priced flights (especially outside of the high season) means it is not out of the question for couples to be able to do a pre-wedding recce. Meeting with wedding planners and viewing venues gives couples great piece of mind before putting down any deposits. Plus, it’s a great excuse for a long weekend in the sunshine with your future hubby/wife!
If you haven’t been to Ibiza before, please note that some flights can sometimes be slightly noisier than your average flight. Please don’t let this put you off – this is not exclusive to Ibiza flights – as we all know, almost all holiday destination islands have a party town! If you want a more guaranteed quiet flight for yourself or family members, we would recommend looking in to daytime flights or flights with family package holiday companies such as Thomson, or individual flights with British Airways.

Weddings take place in May, June, September and October. The summer months of July and August are too warm for weddings and most venues like to keep these months wedding free and exclusively for vacation guests.
May and October can have beautiful weather, bringing plenty of sunshine to the white isle, whilst not being too hot. June and September are the most likely periods to have cloudless sunshine and no rain showers – as long as you are prepared for potential heat waves too!
Weddings start later in the day in Ibiza (typical start times are between 3-6pm) due to the hotter climate. No one wants guests fainting in the midday sunshine! Weddings do have a tendency to go on later in to the evening though, so this makes up the length of your day. Music outdoors will be turned down, or taken inside after 12 o’clock midnight, but many venues will let you continue the party well after the music levels are reduced.
Truly submerge yourself in the undiscovered natural beauty of Ibiza with the help of this fantastic book.
