Tess & Peter ♥ Bali, Indonesia
Photographer: PhotoFactory Bali
When it comes to planning a destination wedding you have a whole world of venues to choose from and so it makes sense that finding and selecting the perfect venue is one of the biggest decisions that a couple getting married abroad makes.
Once you’ve found an incredible venue or a locale surrounded by breathtaking scenery it needs far less dressing up on the big day too which is much more practical for a destination wedding and will be easier on your budget.
So whilst we are on the subject of stop-you-in-your-tracks wedding venues, please take a moment to browse through today’s utterly A-mazing destination day in Bali!!
We have certainly had our fair share of show-stopping weddings on the blog but I think that I can safely say that Alila Villas in Uluwatu is up there when it comes to the most awe-inspiring wedding locations. The modern architectural design and elegantly poised cliff edge location of the ceremony venue is just WOW. Oh and the totally unobstructed sea views…all you can see is the Balinese sun twinkling on the crests of the ocean waves. *Sigh*
So sit back and enjoy getting swept away by Tess and Peter’s simply stunning destination wedding, captured to perfection (as always) by the talented PhotoFactory Bali team.
“We have known each other since 2006, we lived in share house together and quickly became great friends, friendship turned into love soon after we met. After being in a relationship for a year we moved out together and the rest is as they say ‘history’.”
“Peter proposed on the morning of Christmas day in 2010. We were about to open our Christmas present to each other, when he got down on one knee and proposed!”
“We wanted an intimate gathering for our wedding that everyone would enjoy and that showcased our love for each other, and a stunning venue.”
“Being a destination wedding it was hard to include DIY projects, but one of our favorite personal touches was the wedding favors. We gave each guest a Penguin Classics book, with a theme of either love or travel. Each book was chosen for the individual guest, based on their personality, or their history with the Bride and Groom.”
Do you have any advice for couples that are looking to get married in Bali?
- “Make sure you don’t get lost in the crazyness that is wedding planning, remember your love for one another throughout the planning process, don’t try to do everything yourself, its ok to ask for help.”
- “The staff at Alila Villas, they were just wonderful so helpful, especially Ari. She was so professional, so in control and saved the day at so many points (preventing me from tripping on my dress, rescuing my wedding favors from customs, keeping my guests in line, giving a nervous bride reassurance and cues throughout the day), it wouldn’t have been the same without her.”
