Jane & Michael ♥ Hudson River Valley, New York
Photographer: OLLI STUDIO
There’s been a touch of autumn in the air over the last few days in the UK. Torrential downpours and grey skies have been greeting us most mornings and once the sun finally came out yesterday afternoon there was a cool, fresh autumnal edge to the breeze and the pavements were strewn with yellow leaves where the trees must have mistaken the unseasonable weather for the beginning of fall.
Despite it signifying the end of summer, autumn is a lovely season and a gorgeous time of year for a wedding. Deep earthy shades can be teamed with pops of autumn brights – pumpkin orange and golden yellow and rich red leaves – to create a warm and romantic wedding theme.
Jane and Micheal jetted off to Upstate New York to create just this kind of cozy atmosphere for their wedding day. Their day was filled with crisp, bright sunlight and their venue didn’t disappoint with autumn-hued treetops and a dewy view over the Hudson River Valley as their backdrop. Cute personalised touches including pumpkins and scarecrows added to their pretty, rustic autumn theme.
Fingers crossed that the summer sunshine is going to return to us for a little while longer, but it is quite exciting that the lovely autumn months are just around the corner too…
Ann & Richard ♥ Palm Springs, USA

If you’re looking to add a hint of kitsch to your wedding day, you can’t beat Palm Springs. The quirky boutique hotels of this Californian city can serve up one of a kind weddings brimming with desert chic.
The diversely decorated Parker in Palm Springs is one such venue; with a distinguished retro vibe and an eclectic mix of design details (there are two full suits of armour standing amongst retro furnishings within the lobby!), this cool hotel also boasts extensive gardens where you can play croquet, tennis or petanque.
Ann and Richard love the California desert and they longed for a fun and whimsical wedding, so Palm Springs and The Parker seemed like the perfect destination wedding location for them! They jetted off with their nearest and dearest for a long wedding weekend in the sunshine…and a game of crouquet or two of course!
Jess & Rob ♥ Seneca Lake, New York

Today we’re jetting off to the US and the state of New York for a luxury lakeside destination wedding! Waterside weddings are one of my favourites; whether it’s overlooking the ocean, a river, a lake or even a canal, being beside water creates an incredibly calm and at-one-with-nature feeling, and of course it makes an undeniably beautiful backdrop.
Jess and Rob tied the knot beside the harbour of the elegant Watkins Glen Harbour Hotel, overlooking the spectacular Seneca Lake in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country (sounds good to me!).
Their springtime celebration was prettied with pink details and Jess stunned her groom (and their guests) in a sophisticated capped-sleeve Vera Wang gown, just right for this spring soiree.
They pampered their guests with lovely little personal details at the wedding reception including pashminas as favours to keep everyone snug as the sun began to set and the early evening chill arrived….
Beatriz & Chadwick ♥ Florida, USA

When it comes to sharing real destination weddings on You Mean The World To Me the main focus tends to be on the venue as this is the key factor to decide upon with a wedding abroad. So the weddings featured aim to help you decide where in the world should you tie the knot through sharing a range of chic and unique wedding venues from across the globe!
Whilst on the subject of unique……today’s destination wedding took place in the idyllic Key West in sunny Florida however, the truly one of a kind feature in Beatriz and Chadwick’s wedding was the lovely locale that they chose; they said ‘I Do’ within the landscaped gardens of the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum!
Tucked away in the heart of Old Town Key West, this beautiful property was home to Ernest Hemingway (one of America’s most celebrated and respected authors) for more than ten years. Full of character and charm this exceptional venue gave the bride, the groom, and their guests (who all flew in from Philadelphia) a truly memorable wedding day.
Cora & Brian ♥ Hudson River Valley, New York

There are so many beautiful areas in the state of New York. Venture beyond the dazzling lights of Manhattan and be charmed by the countryside and coastal regions that are only a stones throw away.
Cora and Brian LOVE the Hudson River Valley region, north of New York City, with its undeniable charisma and historical beauty and so it seemed like the perfect place for them to say ‘I Do,’ and I think that you’ll agree that they chose one of the most picturesque venues for their serene outdoor ceremony!
The enchanting Boscobel House and Gardens overlooks the Hudson River and is considered to be one of the finest examples of Federal-style architecture in New York. Doesn’t the majestic yellow house deliver everything that you could imagine a dream American wedding to be and more?
Beyond the regality of the ceremony venue, this darling duo ensured that their big day was a romantic-yet-relaxed affair. There’s infectious smiles and laughter to be seen on everyone’s faces and their wonderfully rustic reception ended with dance floor shenanigans and fun with the photo booth props!
If you think that New York could be the wedding destination for you, look beyond the bright lights of the big city, as there are so many fairytale venues to choose from just around the corner…
