Amy & Matt ♥ Venice, Italy
The floating city of Venice is undeniably one of the most beautiful and unique conurbations in the world. With its stunning combination of Gothic and Byzantine architecture, grand bridges and splendid squares, all impressively intertwined with the extraordinary gondola-filled canal network, this is one magical metropolis.
Considered by all as one of the most romantic cities on the planet, a destination wedding in Italy’s capital of romance will certainly be one that you and your guests will never forget!
Wanting to get married abroad, Amy and Matt, both from the UK, decided that the striking scenery of Venice was the locale for them and their destination wedding, and so they tied the knot in the beyond-beautiful St George’s Anglican Church before celebrating with their nearest and dearest and indulging on Italian delicacies and vino in the famous Locanda Cipriani (created by Giuseppe Cipriana, the world renowned founder of Harry’s Bar, Hotal Cipriani and Villa Cipriani).
Where else in the world can you exit your wedding by a sleek boat instead of a getaway car, before getting lost together in a marvellous maze of narrow streets, winding waterways and glorious gondolas? It’s impossible not to love Venice!
Hannah & Gareth ♥ Lake Garda, Italy
If there’s one location that delivers destination weddings with a generous side order of romance, it’s Italy. Big time. Every time.
Gareth and Hannah married on a beautifully blue-skied day in May, in Gardone Riviera, an intimate lakeside resort on the luscious Lake Garda in Italy. They eloped from Stafford in the UK to tie the knot, just the two of them, surrounded by breathtaking beauty and bathed in glorious sunshine – pure romantic bliss.
Together, they got ready for their dreamy day ahead, quietly enjoying their rustic chic B&B with wonderful views over the water, before being whisked off to their Town Hall ceremony on a tuk-tuk! Their talented photographer then took them on a walking tour of the historical town, capturing the precious first moments as excited newlyweds and soaking up the stunning views.
So if you’re thinking of eloping, I’m quite sure this intimate Italian lake elopement might just make up your mind!
Kirsty & Fergus ♥ Amalfi Coast, Italy
Photographer: Oli Sansom
Not only is Fergus and Kirsty’s wedding utterly ‘words can hardly describe it’ beautiful but Kirsty perfectly sums up some of the reasons why a destination day can be the best way to tie the knot.
Halfway through planning a traditional big white wedding at home, their dreams of an intimate Italian getaway could no longer be ignored and so they bravely changed direction and jetted off to the picture-postcard town of Positano, etched into the awe-inspiring cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, for a relaxed, hassle free and downright darling day instead.
Walking hand in hand through the winding whitewashed cobbled streets with passing villagers cheering and taking photos, Kirsty and Fergus look on top of the world. They said their vows on a cliff top terrace, with sweeping views of the sparkling sea – seriously romantic!
Oh and I must mention Kirsty’s divine dress (that she wears so effortlessly, like she was born to wear it), which is so fitting for the style of their day, especially with its beautiful beaded belt shimmering in the sunlight – pure Positano perfection.
Bianca & Francesco ♥ Lazio, Italy
Photographer: Bohemian Weddings
Italian weddings always look incredible! Each one seems to be oh-so-effortlessly chic and naturally beautiful, filled with family, friends, love and laughter, with a banquet of wonderful food, a non-stop flow of lovely, local vino (of course!) and surrounded by rolling rural hills or sunlit village streets and beautiful buildings.
Today’s real wedding is no exception. Bianca and Francesco had a traditional village wedding in a charming chapel, followed by a relaxed garden party reception. The gifted guys from Bohemian Weddings were there to capture the essence of this darling day and they are here today to they tell you more about this idyllic Italian village wedding…
“Bianca and Francesco held their wedding in a beautiful hilltop town called Bagnoregio where Bianca grew up. It is about an hours drive from Rome and surrounded by beautiful countryside and full with a maze of narrow streets where everyone knows each other.”
Marissa & Phil ♥ Tuscany, Italy
Photographer: Jessica Burke
Try and picture the most-dreamy Italian wedding in Tuscany that you can imagine…
You will probably envisage an intimate, atmospheric ceremony held within a tiny old chapel in a traditional Italian village, followed by a fairytale castle wedding reception overlooking the rolling Tuscan countryside, the warm summer sun setting behind the vineyards and the hills sitting in the distance whilst you and your guests sip champagne and cocktails on the impressive outdoor terrace. Sounds like destination wedding heaven doesn’t it?!
Well that’s exactly the delightful kind of day that today’s bride and groom enjoyed. Marissa and Phil had a dreamy castle wedding in Italy. They held their wedding reception within a restored 9th century castle in Tuscany, set high upon the Chianti hills, watching over the medieval village and the river beyond. Their tremendously talented wedding planner – Weddings In Italy – perfectly complimented the location with a theme that focussed on natural beauty, delicate details and pretty pale pinks, whilst the ambience of the day was captured faultlessly by the gifted, fine art photographer Jessica Burke.
Happy New Year! Congratulations to everyone who got engaged last night! And to everyone else, here’s to a wonderful New Year filled with love, laughter and worldwide weddings!
